As the dust settles on Bisley Pavilion grounds, recently a campsite riddled by punk rock devotees with DIY tour vans to prove it, Way Out Music took a moment to reflect on last weekends glorious Undercover Festival. Since the festivals debut in 2013, Undercover has bounced back swinging in round two, booking some of the best punk bands around and holding their ground despite so many other festivals falling by the wayside in the economic climate. This weekend was rammed with wall to wall quality performance, from Goldblade to Mid Aged Rampage, UK Subs to Gentleman’s Dub Club and from Dirtbox Disco to the Wessex Pistols. Ending on a high, XSLF rammed stage 2 and played like it was 79’. We were in our element. Most importantly though, it was great to meet so many inspiring fans and artists at this unique event. People who raise two fingers to injustice and a pint to living outside the system. Long Live Undercover Festival!

Despite their minimal setup, Honeyblood’s songs are fully formed and perfectly assured. With nothing extraneous, their music is driven through tightly-bound instrumentals and laced with the sheer strength and beauty of Stina’s voice. We’ve been hanging out at the NME Magazine offices, Xl Recordings, Beggars, Vive Le Rock, Guilfest, Rebellion Festival and we popped over to Italy to interview at Zion Station before taking a much needed rest in Florida. We’ve missed you!
