Gunn is a New York-based guitarist and songwriter who fuses folk rock and blues. Over his 15-year career, Steve has created sizable works of critically acclaimed solo, and collaborative recordings. His latest album, ‘Time Off’ features longtime collaborating drummer John Truscinski and poses a highlight in contemporary guitar-driven, accelerative music. Currently working his way through a rigorous international tour schedule, Gunn cultivates his committed fanbase throughout the world. Impressively you can also catch Gunn serving as guitarist in fellow Philadelphian musician Kurt Vile’’s band the Violators. With influences from Basho to Bull and Chapman to Sharrock among other six stringed legends and recording perfectionists, Steve has steadily processed these inspirations into a singular, virtuosic stream. Befriending and collaborating with Jack Rose, Tom Carter, Meg Baird, Mike Cooper, and Michael Chapman have helped craft Gunn’s disciplined evolution of the discursive, deconstructed blues sound that is now his signature. Listening closely to the latest album reveals the influence of Delta and Piedmont country blues, ecstatic free jazz, and psych, as well as Gnawa and Carnatic music, on the continually unfolding compositions. Don’t miss your opportunity to see Steve Gunn at Ramsgate Music Hall on 15th November.
