Curley Weaver was born in 1906 and raised near Porterdale, Georgia. He learned guitar around 1922 and moved to Atlanta a few years after. Most of his recordings were duets with other blues artists such as Blind Willie McTell and Fred McMullen of Macon, Georgia. McMullen began recording in 1933. He teamed up with Weaver and Buddy Moss that year in a recording trio called the Georgia Browns.
