Vinyl Shopping in Weymouth

This week we took a few days out to soak up the sunshine in Weymouth, one of England’s most treasured  seaside towns. But of course we weren’t interested in donkey rides or bagging a stick of rock, instead we went in search of the best records the town had to offer and we found some real gems…

The Catholics – ‘Tropical Russians’ and ‘Echo Echo’ 45’’ Vinyl £1

This record plays perfectly and sounds great. The artwork was reminiscent of film noir and had an eerie gothic atmosphere.

The Teardrop Explodes – ‘When I Dream’ and ‘Kilimanjaro’ 45’’ Vinyl £1

This single is incredible. A dream pop 80’s wonder that sounds jangly, upbeat and synth laced.

The Associates – ‘Affectionate Punch’ and ‘You Were Young’ 45’’ Vinyl £1

The Berlin-esque abstract artwork led me to buy this and I wasn’t disappointed. It still needs a few more listens though.

The Housemartens – ‘Caravan of Love’ and ‘When I First Met Jesus’ 45’’ Vinyl £1

It would be rude not to… I think this will go down well on the dancefloor at the end of the night. I’m still not sure if the Jesus B side is a joke or not.

Rude Not To… Vinyl Shop and Clothes

This little shop comes HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! It is split into two sides, clothing styled around Mod, Ska and Two-Tone fashion on one side and vinyl on the other. To be honest I couldn’t pick out a bad record in the shop. The owner clearly knew his stuff and had everything from The Stones and Bowie, to rare Punk, 80’s Indie, Northern Soul and Ska records. I spent a lot of time in here sifting through and could have spent a bomb if I had allowed myself.

Talking Heads ‘Hey Now’ Radiohead EP From the film ‘True Stories’ Rare Vinyl £5

This place was a bit out of the way and hard to find but inside it was full of great records. The shop needed a little TLC and some of the records were not in the best of condition but it was very cheap. I bought 3 singles for £1.20 so can’t complain!

Adicts fans will understand why I bought this one! It features Lemmy from Motorhead and Paula McCartney.

We didn’t have enough time to explore the music venues but here’s a few that caught our attention and might be worth checking out.
