ALESSI

NEW SINGLE ‘WIVES’ OUT 02.12.16

And so another 12 months has passed at Super Fan 99 and we’re closing out the year with a release which is a little special for us. Londoner Alessi Laurent Marke is an artist we’ve been a fan of and followed for some years so when the chance arrived to work with her we didn’t hesitate. We are delighted to be releasing her new single ‘Wives’ this December ahead of a new full length which is set to be released early next year.

Her cosy folk pop has evolved over the years from it’s humble bedroom beginnings and these days has more in common with Cocteau Twins or Charlotte Gainsbourg than the somewhat lazy Joanna Newsom comparisons of old. From uploading home recordings to Myspace to working with Bright Eyes in Nebraska and touring the US with Jenny Lewis and M.Ward it’s been a long and winding road for Alessi which has no doubt shaped her songs. Wives sounds like a very British tale being told in a California desert setting. It’s a beautifully produced and expertly executed taster from the new record which will no doubt excite fans both old and new.

Wives will be backed by another new album track ‘DLD’ and will be released on 8″ lathe cut vinyl. As always each copy is hand cut by our friends in Tuscon Arizona and will be limited to one copy per household with only 40 available worldwide. Keep your eyes peeled for pre-order and an eerie video directed by our cousins at £100 Pop Vids.

“The understated arrangements suggest you’re listening to a woman with impeccable taste” MOJO

“Singing like a cross between Hope Sandoval and Bjork, Laurent-Marke has made a record of deceptive simplicity” BBC

“It takes several plays to appreciate all the small touches that make each delicate piece”THE GUARDIAN

“The old school songwriting and airy, summery production will leave you utterly spellbound” CLASH

Way Out Radio: Crass Special feat Penny Rimbaud Interview

In 1978, just as The Sex Pistols and The Clash were winding down and many people deemed punk as dead, a radical punk band by the name of Crass emerged and released the EP Feeding of the 5000. The band hoped to sell one hundred copies initially but the pressing plant used would only print a minimum of five thousand, hence the title. Crass were astounded to sell all five thousand independently and go to a second pressing. Quickly the band gained a following so vast, that they became leaders of their own splinter genre of Punk, labelled Anarcho-Punk. Since, Feeding of the 5000 has hit gold status and Crass’ legacy has gone on to influence numerous other bands as well as a profusion of protest movements.

STELL∆R – DROP IN DROP OUT

Stellar is the sound of one man and his guitar on a mission. Born in London currently enjoyed on Soundcloud. His first track ‘Drop In Drop Out’ has been recorded with legendary producer Paul Tipler (The Charlatans, Idlewild and Placebo) His songs range from themes about love, loss and ultimately hope. Darker verses give way to Sing-a-long choruses and a penchant to f**k up his voice with notes he thinks he can reach. Well versed in playing the venues of London as he is part of indie punk band Model Society. The spirit of punk strummed out on an acoustic guitar with a voice that wants to be heard.

Song produced by the indie top dog Paul Tipler (the Charlatans, Idlewild and a Placebo)
